Congressman Danny K. Davis today called on Department of Health and
Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to cease evading and stonewalling
Congressional requests to appear in person before the Energy and
Commerce's Oversight Subcommittee and fully address the entire array
of questions regarding the thousands of children separated from their
parents seeking Refugee status in the United States. Under the Trump
Administration's inhumane “zero-tolerance policy” these children were

• Gradually raising the minimum wage to $15 by 2024 will be good for workers, good for businesses, and good for th economy. This proposal will put money in the pockets of 40 million hardworking Americans who will then spend that money in the local economy, which is why a majority of people support phasing in a $15 minimum wage.

• No person working full-time in the richest nation on earth should be living in poverty, but there is no place in America where a full-time worker making $7.25 an hour can afford the basic essentials.

Bill Supports Job Training and Employment for Disadvantaged Americans through Public and Private Sector Collaboration

Washington, D.C. – Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Representative Danny Davis, D-Ill., today introduced the ELEVATE Act to boost job prospects for Americans struggling to find work and help them maintain employment.

In the 116th Congress, Representative Davis has been reappointed to the Committee on Ways and Means where he serves as Chairman of the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee and on the Trade Subcommittee. Congressman Davis is a member of several Congressional Caucuses including the Congressional Black Caucus, the Progressive Caucus, the Urban Caucus, the Community Health Center's Caucus, the Congressional Sugar Caucus, the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys and Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Re-entry.
