President Trump issued a new executive order on immigration and refugees today. It was released with no public ceremony which is entirely appropriate. There is nothing to celebrate here.

We now know that during his confirmation hearings before his colleagues in the Senate Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied under oath to very specific questions about his communications with Russian officials and that he had, not one but at least two, private meetings with the Russian Ambassador to the United States, Sergey I. Kislyak. AG Sessions, who has demanded the highest standards from previous Attorneys General should recognize the seriousness of his situation and resign before entangling the Department of Justice further.

President Trump outlined his budget for the Congress and the American people last night. While the extreme rhetoric has been scaled back the audacity of the proposed cuts to basic services have not been scaled back and are enough to take ones breath away. Even leading Republicans declared the budget plan “dead on arrival”. Here are some of the highlights (or lowlights):

Based on false assertions, or as they are now termed by his circle, alternate facts, Trump falsely claimed that immigrants were a security threat (not true, with exception of 9-11, it is well documented that most terrorist attacks are homegrown).
