More on Immigration
Washington, D.C. – Today, U. S. Rep. Danny K. Davis joined U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07), Chairman Bill Pascrell (NJ-09), and Chairman Earl Blumenauer (OR-03) released a joint statement with 14 members of the House Ways and Means Committee expressing support for the Haitian people and reaffirming the Committee's role in promoting trade policies that foster economic development and improve conditions for workers.
WASHINGTON, DC - Once again, as has happened so many times in the past, America is being tested. Read any grade or high school civics text and you will find soaring rhetoric about our commitment to individual liberty and equality, to freedom of the press, freedom of religion, due process, right to vote, freedom of association and right to organize ... For most Americans, those noble ideals are what we love most about our country. Today’s Supreme Court decision on President Trump’s “Muslim ban” reminds us that history does not bear out the reality of life in America in such simple terms.
STATEMENT OF REP. DANNY K. DAVIS ON IMMIGRATION CRISIS & TRUMP POLICY
The cruelty, the callousness, the inhumanity of President Trump’s so called “zero tolerance” policy has now been reconfirmed and reinforced by the President’s desperate, clumsy and ill-informed attempts to cover up and distract from his actions.
President Trump issued a new executive order on immigration and refugees today. It was released with no public ceremony which is entirely appropriate. There is nothing to celebrate here.
