WASHINGTON, DC –Today, three Ranking Members from the Ways and Means Committee sent a letter to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) and Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), requesting the Committee provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) with at least an additional $560 million in FY 2018 over total FY 2017 funding.

Davis (D-IL07) and Bill Pascrell, Jr., (D-NJ09) today introduced The Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act (HR 5103) - legislation to prevent gun violence and increase community safety by increasing the federal taxes on guns and ammunition, including closing current loopholes that allow some of the most popular and deadly firearms to avoid taxation and regulation.
Background on Gallagher/Davis bi-partisan Trauma Informed Care Resolution:
H. Res. 443 is a bi-partisan resolution “Recognizing the importance and effectiveness of trauma-informed care” which recognizes the importance, effectiveness, and need for trauma-informed care among existing federal programs and agencies. Trauma-informed care takes into account a patient's history of trauma in the design of the patient's treatment and encourages the use of trauma-informed care within the federal government.

I am appalled at this Budget. After a 1.5 trillion tax cut for the wealthiest corporations and donors, the Trump Budget proposes cutting basic necessities of everyday Americans - Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, food assistance, housing, and heating, just to name a few.
