Once again, I condemn in the strongest terms all acts of violence and terror and rhetoric advocating such violence or terror. The attempted attacks on Congresswoman Maxine Waters, President Barack and Michelle Obama, President Clinton and Secretary Clinton, CNN, John O. Brennan, former Attorney General Eric Holder, George Soros, and the use of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s name as the return address on the explosive device is not only an attack on these individuals and institutions but an attempt to terrorize Americans on the eve of our elections.

Cummings, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued a new national-level report and state-level reports on the potential effects of the Trump Administration’s decision not to defend statutory protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions who buy their own insurance.

I have joined with 71 other members of Congress in sending a letter to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar condemning the Trump Administration’s transfer of more than 1,600 children in the dead of night to an Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) tent city in Tornillo, Texas. The letter also expresses concern that sponsors for these children may face increased enforcement actions and arrests, due to increased sharing of information between HHS and DHS. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen is copied on the letter.

Congressman Danny K. Davis joins with Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03), and CPC First Vice Chair Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) in letter to President Trump calling for the withdrawal of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court. The group of 39 Democrats, including eight CPC Members who serve on the House Judiciary Committee, further committed to exercising constitutional oversight to investigate evidence of possible perjury committed by Judge Kavanaugh. Lying under oath to the Senate would be a federal crime.

Under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, immigration judges face growing pressure to complete cases faster, potentially at the expense of giving immigrants a fair day in court, the president of the union of immigration judges warned on Friday.
Judges are under undue pressure to work through cases — which would only worsen with a soon-to-be-implemented quota system, said the National Association of Immigration Judges’ president, Ashley Tabaddor, at the National Press Club in Washington on Friday.
