WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL), Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. French Hill (R-AR), and Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) introduced landmark legislation to strengthen successful reentry and economic growth by restoring Pell Grant eligibility for the incarcerated.

Today, I rise in strong support of this resolution reasserting the primacy of the Congress in the power to wage war.
In our democracy, under our Constitution, we do not give the awful power to wage war to one individual because the history of nations has taught us the dangers of concentrating such power in a single hand.
The Administration’s January 2, 2020 rash, provocative drone strike at the Baghdad airport which killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was taken without Congressional authorization or consultation and represents a reckless escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran and threatens to inflame conflict across the Middle East.

Rep. Davis along with Senators Durbin and Duckworth and Representatives Schakowsky, Rush, Quigley and Kelly have requested funding for 2020 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify long term solutions to the problem of lake shore erosion.
