Washington D. C. - Congressman Danny K Davis announced his State of the Union guest is Lillian Drummond, 101-year-old a founder of the South Austin Coalition Community Council (SACCC). Unfortunately, Mrs. Drummond is not able to travel to Washington, D.C. Instead, a virtual Zoom event will capture Mrs. Drummond listening to President Biden’s State of the Union Address. Mrs. Drummond may be the oldest State of the Union guest in U. S.

 U. S. House of Representative Danny K. Davis will announce at a press conference 25 community projects as part of the U. S. House of Representatives initiative.  The projects range from technology, healthcare, education, substance use treatment, mental health services, mentoring programs, affordable housing, and capital improvements.  Attendees included:

     Washington – Rep. Danny K. Davis announced that theCity of Chicago and Cook County would receive a reallocation of emergency rental assistance funds from the U. S. Treasury for the second quarter, beginning in April. This funding is a result of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, enacted on March 11, 2021. The funds are provided directly to states, U.S. territories, and local governments.

It was my pleasure to speak with Mayor Jaylen Smith the youngest elected mayor in the United States. I enjoyed interacting with him, we exchanged personal telephone numbers and agreed to stay in touch. I explained to him that I grew up in a small town (Parkdale) in Arkansas and I have a great deal of interest in the state and feel a great sense of pride in his accomplishment and if I can be of any help to him or his town, just give me a call.

Washington, D.C.- U. S. Representative Danny K. Davis is pleased to announce the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services HRSA for granting $28.8 million in funding for the Chicago Department of Health to strengthen the health infrastructure, workforce, and data systems. This first-of-its-kind funding provides flexible awards directly to state, local, and territorial health departments to help ensure they have the people, services, and systems they need to promote and protect health in their communities.

 I am pleased to note that the Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment announced on October 13th is 8.7% percent and will automatically increase benefits first received in January. This applies to SSI payments as well, for an average retired worker beneficiary in January. The increase in their benefit will be $140 dollars a month. This year’s 8.7% increase is the largest since 1981. The 8.7 percent cost of living adjustment will begin with payments to more than 65 million SSI beneficiaries in January 2023, which will give seniors more peace of mind.
