Congressman Danny K. Davis joined 120 House and Senate Democrats on an amicus brief submitted today in support of the New York state-led lawsuit seeking to stop the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 census. The Amicus Brief notes the Census Bureau has long recognized that any effort to ascertain citizenship will inevitably jeopardize the overall accuracy of the population count.

If you were denied Public Service Loan Forgiveness because some or all of your payments were under a the wrong repayment plan, you may qualify for a TEMPORARY opportunity that will fund the forgiveness. Congress just allocated $350 million for the Temporary Expanded Public Service Loan Forgiveness opportunity to help public servants who would have qualified for Public Service Loan Forgiveness except that they were in the wrong plan. All the other requirements must be met (e.g., 120 on-time payments, direct loan, full-time employment, working for a qualified employer).

This GOP bill does not address the problems with TANF in Illinois. Almost two-thirds of TANF recipients are children and millions of children live in poverty and receive nothing from TANF at all, yet the GOP bill fails to advance meaningful efforts to reduce child poverty.
