Statement of Rep. Danny K. Davis on the Passing of Rep. Alcee Hasting, Dean of the Florida Delegation

The 7th Congressional District of Illinois is deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Alcee Hastings, the Dean of the Florida Delegation. Congressman Hastings served as Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Legislative and Budget Process and Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (U.S. Helsinki Commission).

Representative Hastings was a tremendous force, a powerful debater and tireless advocate for his District. We extend our heartfelt condolences and best wishes to his family.
