Statement of Congressman Danny K. Davis on the Passing of Retired Congressman Augustus A. (Gus) Savage

I, members of my family and many residents of the 7th Congressional District were saddened to hear that Congressman Savage has passed. We pause to extend condolences to his family and to acknowledge his participation in public debate and decision-making in this country and in world affairs.

Congressman Savage was a community activist, an organizer, a consistent advocate and a passionate fighter in his efforts to create a more open and just society.
