REP. DAVIS ANNOUNCES $28,808,932 AWARD TO THE CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH FOR WORKFORCE-RELATED PROGRAMS

November 29, 2022

Washington, D.C.- U. S. Representative Danny K. Davis is pleased to announce the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services HRSA for granting $28.8 million in funding for the Chicago Department of Health to strengthen the health infrastructure, workforce, and data systems. This first-of-its-kind funding provides flexible awards directly to state, local, and territorial health departments to help ensure they have the people, services, and systems they need to promote and protect health in their communities. In addition, the City of Chicago Department of Health's $28.8 million will provide significant resources that Chicago can use to recruit, retain, and train their workforce.

Davis said, "I am proud to have been a part of securing this grant for the City of Chicago's Department of Health, which will provide essential training and employment opportunities. The American Rescue Plan Act has transformed communities and people's lives. With this grant, the work will continue."

Supported in part by the American Rescue Plan Act, the U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant is an innovative investment that supports critical public health infrastructure needs of jurisdictions across the United States. Funding from this grant will help ensure that the City of Chicago has the people, services, and systems needed to promote and protect health. In addition, the grant creates a strong foundation for CDC's public health infrastructure work and provides maximum flexibility so jurisdictions can address their most pressing needs.
