Davis announces Ways and Means Subcommittee Assignments

Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL07) today announced his subcommittee
assignments on the Ways and Means Committee in the 113th Congress.
The jurisdiction of the Committee on Ways and Means includes Customs
revenue, collection districts, and ports of entry and delivery;
Reciprocal trade agreements; Revenue measures generally; Revenue
measures relating to insular possessions; Bonded debt of the United
States; Deposit of public monies; Transportation of dutiable goods;
Tax exempt foundations and charitable trusts; National Social Security
(except health care and facilities programs that are supported from
general revenues as opposed to payroll deductions and except work
incentive programs.

Davis will sit on the Subcommittee on Human Resources whose
jurisdiction includes bills and issues relating to Unemployment
Compensation, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Child Care,
Child Support Enforcement, Child Welfare, Social Services Block Grants
and Supplemental Security Income; and the Subcommittee on Oversight
whose jurisdiction includes bills and issues relating to all matters
within the scope of the full Committee’s jurisdiction but limited to
existing law. Oversight jurisdiction is not exclusive but concurrent
with that of the other Subcommittees or the full Committee.

Davis stated: "These assignments are congruent with a number of
critical issues which I have long held special interest. I am eager
to return to work and begin making progress on these and other issues
facing the Congress and the nation."
