Former Foster youth and Homeless youth may be eligible to claim the earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The American Rescues Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) amended IRC to recognize two categories of taxpayer’s needs, “qualified foster youth and qualified homeless youth,” These taxpayers may be eligible to claim the earned income tax credit if they are not claiming a qualifying child and are at lest 18 years old, the minimum age for other taxpayers who are not claiming a qualifying child to claim the EITC is 19. There is no minimum age for Taxpayers who are claiming a qualifying child.
