Davis Statement on NLRB Ruling for UNITE HERE v Blackstone Hotel
July 9, 2010

Congressman Davis, today lauded the judicial victory of employees and union workers who have been engaged in a protracted labor dispute with the Blackstone Hotel.  This week, an administrative law judge with the National Labor Relations Board found that the Blackstone Hotel managers and owners violated federal labor laws for their efforts to decertify the employees' union, illegally fire workers, and cut staff benefits.  The ruling ordered the hotel to offer jobs back to 14 employees that had been laid off last June, while providing any lost wages and benefits that total approximately $250,000.  Workers and community leaders have worked actively to encourage the Blackstone management to abide by labor laws.  Congressman Davis celebrates this important victory with the UNITE HERE Local 1.
