Davis Introduces Bill to Extend FEP Benefits to Children to age 25

RepresentativeDanny K. Davis (D-IL07) today introduced legislation to increase themaximum age to qualify for coverage as a ‘‘child’’ under the healthbenefits program for Federal employees from 22 to 25.  Originalco-sponsors include Reps. Cummings, Norton, Connolly, Maloney and Moran.

Davis stated, ""As the longest recession since the Great Depressioncontinues to drag on, more and more families are facing extremehardship.  A recent study documented that more than 60% of bankruptcieswere the result of medical expenses.  The damage to the health offamilies and associated social costs extend beyond the direct costs. It is our hope that this legislation will reduce the cost, and lightenthe burden of health care for federal workers while extending healthprotection for their families."
