Rep. Danny K. Davis announces Second Chance grants

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Danny K. Davis, a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, announces the Prisoner Reentry Initiative FY 2009 Competitive Grant Announcement from the Department of Justice.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Danny K. Davis, a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, announces the Prisoner Reentry Initiative FY 2009 Competitive Grant Announcement from the Department of Justice.  Davis stated, "Today is a great day for the reentry community.  While this is only the beginning, these funds will allow states, cities, non-profits and community organizations to increase their roles in assisting ex-offenders successful reentry to productive citizens".  Rep. Davis will continue to fight for further funding for the Second Chance Program in the 111th Congress.  According to the grants.gov website, the deadline for applications are due by 8:00 p.m. e.t. on April 20, 2009.
