Rep. Danny K. Davis Announces $155.3 Million to Help Illinois Families Cover Energy Costs This Winter
Investment Will Help Families Afford Heating, Utility Costs and Energy Repairs
(Chicago) — Today, U. S. Representative Danny K. Davis announced $155 million dollars to help Illinois families with energy costs this winter through the Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
“As residents in my district continue recovering from the pandemic, this investment will help families afford energy costs and stay warm, safe and healthy this winter,” said Davis..
Approximately 200,000 people in the 7th Congressional District are eligible for LIHEAP. As the residents continue to deal with the impacts of the pandemic, LIHEAP grantees will be able to use the funding appropriated by Congress, along with funding made available through the American Rescue Plan Act, to help more than 5 million households stay warm this winter, cover utility costs and pay for energy repairs.
