CONGRESSMAN DANNY K. DAVIS ANNOUNCES FEDERAL GRANTS BENEFITING CHICAGO COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Chicago, IL -Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-07) is proud to announce the awarding of several significant federal grants to support essential community services and educational programs in the Chicago area. These grants, totaling over $14.7 million, will enhance healthcare, education, and social services for residents across the city.

     “These grants represent a substantial investment in our community’s health, education, and well-being,” said Congressman Davis. “They will provide critical resources to support early childhood education, public health initiatives, nursing education, and specialized healthcare services. I am proud to see these federal funds allocated to programs that will have a profound and positive impact on the lives of Chicagoans.”

The grants awarded include:

  1. Metropolitan Family Services     - Purpose: Head Start Projects     - $6,386,242 
  2. Children's Home & Aid Society of Illinois  - Purpose: Head Start Projects   - $2,918,390 
  3. Adtalem Global Education Inc.  - Purpose: Nurse Faculty Loan Program   - $1,196,796 
  4. University of Illinois  - Purpose: Black Lung/Coal Miner Clinics Program  - $1,160,847 
  5. Loyola University of Chicago - Purpose: Nurse Faculty Loan Program - $127,771 
  6. City of Chicago - Purpose: Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program - $2,992,544 

 Metropolitan Family Services and Children's Home & Aid Society of Illinois: Head Start Projects

These grants will support early childhood education and development services for low-income families, ensuring that children in the Chicago area receive the critical support they need to succeed in school and beyond.

 Adtalem Global Education Inc. and Loyola University of Chicago: Nurse Faculty Loan Program

The funds will help increase the number of qualified nursing faculty, addressing the critical need for well-trained nursing professionals in the healthcare sector. This program provides financial support for nurses pursuing graduate degrees to become educators.

 Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: Black Lung/Coal Miner Clinics Program

This grant will support healthcare services for coal miners suffering from black lung disease, providing vital medical care and improving the quality of life for these individuals.

 City of Chicago: Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program

The awarded funds will bolster efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, providing comprehensive care and support services to individuals affected by HIV, and working towards the goal of ending the epidemic in the city.
