REP DAVIS ANNOUCES $4.5 MILLION IN CDFI FUNDS FOR CHICAGO July 18, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC (JULY 18, 2011) - REP. DAVIS APPLAUDES THE Department of the Treasury's CDFI Fund ON AWARDINNG $4.5 million for three CDFI's in Chicago
Rep. Danny K. Davis along with Donna J. Gambrell, Director of the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government announced $4.5 million for three CDFIs in Chicago; the largest single round of monetary awards in the CDFI Fund's history. Rep Davis, stated, "The studies of the impact of CDFI grants provide the scientific evidence, the living proof, that our economy, and especially economically impacted communities, grow and thrive only if they are provided with the investments in people, in businesses and in communities not available through traditional banks and investment institutions. The grants we are announcing today are a timely, welcome and necessary down payment on our nation's and our people's future." |
