WASHINGTON, DC (DECEMBER 5, 2011) - REP. DAVIS INVITES LOCAL BUSINESSES TO ATTEND SMALL BUSINESS SUMMIT ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2011 (MALCOM X COLLEGE); ENCOURAGES EFFORT ON CONTRACTING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

On Monday, December 12, 2011, (Malcolm X College: 8:30 - 1:00pm) Rep. Davis will host a Small Business Summit and Expo to encourage opportunities for area business with contracting opportunities with the Federal Government.  Davis stated, "Having previously served on the Small Business Committee in the House of Representatives, I know first hand of the impact of these business on the economy and in the community.  I am pleased to bring federal agencies to discuss opportunities that may exist to assist local small business with growth and talent opportunities".  Many agencies have agreed to participate including the Small Business Administration, the Department(s) of Education, Interior, Agriculture, Labor, Transportation, Army Corps of Engineers, Navy, Air Force and the General Services Agency and other local businesses.

In addition, local businesses can take part in three workshops on Lending, Doing Business with the Federal Government and Starting Your Small Business.  Lenders will be on site to answer finance questions and there will be opportunities for one-on-one meetings with the Federal Agencies.
